This Customer Data Enrichment App (the “App”) is provided by Datonics LLC.  The privacy policy below explains how information is collected from businesses that download this App through the Shopify App Store (“you” or “User”) and used by Datonics through this App. If you have any questions about this privacy policy, please contact us at privacy@datonics.com.

OVERVIEW

Through the App, you can implement Datonics pixels on your digital properties to collect certain data.

YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING ALL PRIVACY DISCLOSURES ON YOUR ONLINE PROPERTIES REGARDING YOUR DATA COLLECTION AND USE, AND THE SHARING OF SUCH DATA WITH DATONICS, IN A MANNER THAT COMPLIES WITH ALL APPLICABLE LAWS.

  • Such data is then sent to Datonics via an API and matched against data possessed by Datonics.

  • Reports are then returned by Datonics to you through the App.

  • Datonics does not use your consumer information for the benefit of other Datonics clients.

WHAT KIND OF INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT THROUGH THIS APP?

When you register for and install the App, we will collect your name, company name, email address and certain other information about your business (“Business Information”).

As you use the App, we may receive via the Shopify API and customer API the email addresses of your customers and details regarding their spending and shopping through your services (“Consumer Information”).  Business Information and Consumer Information are collectively referred to as “Your Information.”

HOW DO WE USE BUSINESS INFORMATION?

We use the Business Information for the following purposes:

  • To communicate with you and provide our services, which may include:

    • Operating the App, and providing you with any specific services that you have requested;

    • Responding to your direct inquiries, requests, issues or feedback, and providing customer service;

    • Adding you to our mailing lists and sending you emails from time to time;

    • For analytics and personalization, which may include:

    • Identifying trends and making inferences about you and your interactions with us or our affiliates or our business partners;

    • Conducting research and analytics to improve our services and product offerings or those of our affiliates and business partners;

    • Understanding how you interact with the App;

    • Better understanding our customers’ needs; 

  • For security and fraud prevention, which may include:

    • Helping maintain the safety, security, and integrity of the App, and other technology assets, and business;

    • Internal research; technological development and demonstration; and improving, upgrading, or enhancing the App;

    • Detecting security incidents; protecting against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity; and prosecuting those responsible for that activity;

    • Investigating suspected fraud, harassment, or other violations of any law, rule, or regulation, or the policies for the website; 

  • To support core business functions, which may include:

    • Maintaining records related to business process management, loss and fraud prevention, and to collect amounts owing to us;

    • Providing and provide and maintaining the functionality of the website, including identifying and repairing errors or problems; and 

  • For any additional purposes that you specifically consent to.

 

HOW DO WE USE CONSUMER INFORMATION

  • We only use the Consumer Information to provide the services you have requested.

 

HOW DO WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

  • Compliance with legal or regulatory obligations, establishing or exercising our rights, and to defending against a legal claim;

  • Responding to law enforcement requests and as required by applicable law, court order, legal process, or governmental regulation;

  • Acting in connection with a bankruptcy proceeding or the sale, merger, or change of control of Datonics or the division responsible for the services with which your information is associated;

 

HOW DO WE DISCLOSE OR SHARE YOUR INFORMATION?

We may disclose Your Information in the following instances:

  • Service Providers: We may share Your Information with third-party service providers who may use Your Information to provide us with services. These service providers may have access to Your Information that is necessary to perform their functions, but they are only permitted to do so in connection with performing services for us. They are not authorized by us to use the information for their own benefit. 

  • Corporate Affiliates: We may share Your Information with our corporate affiliates and subsidiaries, who process information on our behalf, where necessary to provide a product or service that you have requested, or in other circumstances with your consent or as permitted or required by law. 

  • Legal Compliance and to Defend Our Rights: We may disclose Your Information as we believe necessary or appropriate: (a) under applicable law, including laws outside your country of residence; (b) to comply with legal process; (c) to respond to requests from public and government authorities including public and government authorities outside your country of residence; (d) to protect our operations or those of any of our affiliates; (e) to protect our rights, privacy, safety or property, and/or that of our affiliates, you, or others; and (f) to allow us to pursue available remedies or limit the damages that we may sustain. 

  • Business Transfers: We may share Your Information with third parties in connection with a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, or other sale or transfer of some or all of the assets of Datonics, whether as a going concern or as part of bankruptcy, liquidation, or similar proceeding, in which the assets transferred may include information about the users of our website. 

  • Non-Personal Information: We may share non-personal information with unaffiliated third parties, such as business and advertising partners, manufacturers, distributors, and retailers, to improve and enhance your experience using the website, and for our own market research activities. We publicly commit to maintain and use the information in de-identified or aggregate form, and not to attempt to re-identify the information. 

 

Please note that if you specifically consent to additional uses of Your Information, we may use Your Information in a manner consistent with that consent.

 

WHAT TYPES OF SECURITY PROCEDURES ARE IN PLACE?

The security of your information is very important to us. Datonics follows generally accepted industry standards to protect Your Information. All information collected by the Datonics system is stored in databases that are stored in a secure data center located in the United States.  Both physical and Internet access is strictly protected and limited.  Access is granted only to those with authorization. However, no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect Your Information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

DATA RETENTION

 Your Information is retained for as long as we have a business purpose and for archival and backup purposes.  

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION

This App is maintained in the United States of America. By using this App, you authorize the export of any information described in this policy to the USA, and its storage and use as specified in this policy.  Please note that information transferred to the United States is subject to access by law enforcement.

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

If we decide to change this privacy policy, we will post those changes to this privacy policy and other places we deem appropriate so that you are aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it.  We reserve the right to modify this privacy policy at any time, so please review it frequently.  If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you here.
